Trump threatens an additional 50% tariff on China if they do not end their retaliatory tariffs by today
China said Monday it would not cave to threats after US President Donald Trump vowed additional 50% tariffs on its goods if Beijing did not retract planned retaliation.
Trump’s threat came after China said it would retaliate against U.S. tariffs he announced last week.
The US President responded by reprimanding China for disregarding his warning and that targeted countries should not join the retaliation.
He also mentioned that if Beijing did not back down the United States would impose additional 50% tariffs on China from Friday.
“If China does not withdraw its 34% increase above their already long term trading abuses by today, April 8th, 2025, the United States will impose ADDITIONAL Tariffs on China of 50%, effective April 9th,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
